Boeing will deliver aircraft despite US sanctions
US trade sanctions will not affect Boeing's delivery schedule of the latest 737 series
planes to Jet Airways, Boeing India president Dinesh Keskar said on Tuesday. Jet Airways
had placed an order for 10 Boeing 737 series planes in December 1996 out of which three
737-400 have already been delivered, while the fourth one is scheduled for delivery next
month. The delivery will not be affected and happen as planned, Keskar said. The next
phase of delivery will begin in December 1998 with more 800s to follow. Keskar made it
clear that the US sanctions would not affect Boeing's ability to sell planes in India. The
aircraft manufacturer will also continue with its sales campaigns with Air India and other
Indian carriers. We are not conceding anything, Boeing India chief said. Boeing would also
continue business relations with the government, he said. (Business Aaj Tak) |
