EU not to isolate India
Ministers of the European Union have stated they have no
intention of isolating India but said strong economic sanctions may still be imposed. The
move has been taken to encourage India to sign treaties on nuclear non-proliferation and
banning further testing, said British Development Minister Clare Short. Although the
European Union has not given a joint official position over Indias blasts, trade
restrictions are a sign of concern over Indias move. The ministers pointed out they
were against restrictions on foreign aid. |
